Cup football returned to Haddenham on Saturday when Haddenham overcame Long Marston to book their place in the third round of the Marsworth Senior Cup.
Following a 2 -2 draw in their league encounter earlier in the season this was always likely to be a tight match and after 45 minutes the teams were tied at 0 - 0.
Haddenham started the second half brightly and on 50 minutes got the reward their enterprising play deserved.
Craig Bryson played a delightful one two with Adam Rowley, taking the perfectly weighted return pass in his stride before crossing perfectly for Dave (Podge) Daley to cooly slot home. 1 - 0
The home side had to wait 25 minutes for the goal that wrapped up the tie. The ball was won in midfield and played down the left to Rowley who controlled the ball and sprinted to the edge of the penalty area where he unleashed a tremendous strike that curled round the goalie, nestling perfectly in the back of the net.
2 - 0 and game over.
In a rare interview Haddenham's quiet and reserved First Team Manager, James Ward, said of the performance and result "I'm over the moon". Thanks Wardy.
